EXECUTIVE MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 20, 2015

THE BARR-REEVE BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN EXECUTIVE SESSION ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2015 AT 7:30 P.M AT THE ALFORDSVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN LOOGOOTEE. BOARD MEMBERS GALEN GRABER, RONALD BOYD AND LANA HELMS WERE PRESENT. ALSO PRESENT WAS THE SUPERINTENDENT TRAVIS MADISON.
THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER.
A DISCUSSION WAS HELD WHERE AUTHORIZED BY FEDERAL AND STATE STATUTE AND ON JOB PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEES.
A MOTION WAS MADE BY GALEN GRABER AND SECONDED BY LANA HELMS TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. MOTION CARRIED AND MEETING WAS ADJOURNED.

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 20, 2015

THE BARR-REEVE BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2015 AT 8:00 P.M. AT THE ALFORDSVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN LOOGOOTEE. BOARD MEMBERS GALEN GRABER, LANA HELMS AND RONALD BOYD WERE PRESENT. ALSO PRESENT WERE THE SUPERINTENDENT TRAVIS MADISON AND THOSE LISTED ON THE ATTACHED SIGN-IN SHEET.
PRESIDENT GALEN GRABER CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND LED THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.
THE BOARD APPROVED THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 8, 18, & OCTOBER 1, 2015. LANA HELMS MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS PRESENTED AND RONALD BOYD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
CLAIM NUMBERS 751 – 867 WERE PRESENTED TO THE BOARD FOR PAYMENT. LANA HELMS AND GALEN GRABER EACH HAD A QUESTION ON A FEW CLAIMS. RONALD BOYD MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT ALL CLAIMS AS PRESENTED. GALEN GRABER SECONDED THE MOTION AND MOTION CARRIED.
THERE WERE NO COMMENTS FROM PATRONS CONCERNING ITEMS ON THE AGENDA.
IN NEW BUSINESS, THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE FOLLOWING FIELD TRIP REQUEST:
SEPT 29 – HS CHOIR – CLOVERDALE HIGH SCHOOL/CHORAL FESTIVAL – LEAH COCHREN
OCT 5 – HS BAND – SHOALS HIGH SCHOOL/BAND FESTIVAL – STEPHANIE O’BRIAN
NOV 20 – ART CLUB – INDIANA UNIVERSITY ART MUSEUM – LISA DUNCHEON
LANA HELMS MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE FIELD TRIP AS EDUCATIONAL. RONALD BOYD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE FOLLOWING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUEST:

RONALD BOYD MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE ALL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUESTS. GALEN GRABER SECONDED THE MOTION AND MOTION CARRIED.
IN PERSONNEL, UPON RECOMMENDATION FROM ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AARON ASH THE BOARD APPROVED THE ADDITIONAL 2015-2016 GIRLS BASKETBALL COACHES:

LANA HELMS MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THESE POSITIONS AS STATED. RONALD BOYD SECONDED THE MOTION AND MOTION CARRIED.

GALEN GRABER MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE ALL THE POSITIONS AS STATED. LANA HELMS SECONDED THE MOTION AND MOTION CARRIED.
UPON RECOMMENDATION FROM HEAD CUSTODIAN MARK YODER, THE BOARD APPROVED JERICA BULLOCK AS A 2ND SHIFT CUSTODIAN. GALEN GRABER MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THIS POSITION. LANA HELMS SECONDED THE MOTION AND MOTION CARRIED.
IN REPORTS, MR MADISON REMINDED THE BOARD THAT THE ISBA FALL 2015 FALL REGIONAL MEETING IS OCTOBER 26, 2015 AT HUNTINGBURG. MR MADISON ALSO SPOKE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW BR IS MANAGING DUAL CREDIT CHANGES AND THAT WE HAVE OUR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS COVERED. SUPERINTENDENT MADISON ALSO SPOKE ABOUT THE CURRENT ISSUES ON LAST YEARS ISTEP AND THE SCORE DELAYS.
IN FINANCIAL REPORTS, MR MADISON GAVE A BRIEF FINANCIAL REPORT OF CURRENT CASH BALANCES AS COMPARED TO LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME. SUPERINTENDENT MADISON ALSO UPDATED THE BOARD ON OUR FY 2016 ASSESSED VALUATION NUMBERS.
IN OTHER BUSINESS, PRESIDENT GALEN GRABER CONGRATULATED THE CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS ON A SUCCESSFUL SEASON THUS FAR AND FOR THEIR SUCCESS LAST WEEKEND IN THE REGIONAL. HE WISHED THE RUNNERS AND THE VOLLEYBALL TEAM BEST OF LUCK AS THEIR SEASONS CONTINUE.
SECRETARY LANA HELMS THANKED THE CORPORATION BUS DRIVERS FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT AND ALL THAT THEY DO TO KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE. SHE ALSO THANKED ALL OF THOSE WHO DRIVE FOR THE ECA EVENTS AS WELL.
THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING WILL BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 10, 2015.
THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS, SECRETARY LANA HELMS STATED SHE WOULD MAKE A MOTION TO ADJOURN. RONALD BOYD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED AND MEETING WAS ADJOURNED.
